Inside a Hillside Residence Reimagined as a Sanctuary

When the owners first walked us through this hillside residence, the views were extraordinary and entirely ignored. Heavy finishes and closed rooms turned their backs on the landscape. Our brief was simple: let the house exhale.

Opening the Plan to the View

We removed two interior walls to draw a single sightline from the entry through to the valley beyond. The architecture now defers to the landscape, with low furniture and a restrained palette ensuring nothing interrupts the horizon.

A Material Palette Borrowed from Outside

Oiled oak, honed limestone, and undyed wool echo the hillside itself. By pulling the exterior palette indoors, the boundary between house and land softens until the two feel like one continuous, quiet whole.
